Location of Manyara National Park
Lake Manyara National Park is located in the Manyaraand Arusha regions of Tanzania. These administrative regions, however, have no jurisdiction over this park. It is actually governed by Tanzania National Parks Authority. Majority of the area covered by this park involves a narrow strip that runs between Lake Manyaraand the Gregory Riftwall to its west and the alkaline soda lake to its east. The location is about one hundred and twenty five kilometres, south west of your apartment in Arusha. It is about an hour and a half away from Arusha by road. It could also be reached from Babati which is the capital of Manyara Region. The park is also situated in close proximity to the Tarangire National Park. The closest airstrip to the park is the Lake Manyara Airport.
Wildlife that can be seen at Lake Manyara National Park
The Lake Manyara National Parkis famous for the wildlife it offers, particularly for the flamingos that populate the lake. During the rainy season, they like to inhabit the lake’s edges and you will come across flocks of hundreds of them. Apart from flamingos, tourists and visitors to this park will come across more than four hundred diverse species of various birds which live in the park and most of them remain here, round the year.
